The success of the Kazakh Paralympic sports both in the country and on the global stage is associated with the name of Kairat Boranbaev in recent years. Since 2015, he has been holding the position of the President of the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan. And in 2018, the first Paralympic training center in Kazakhstan was established in Astana with his support.

The National Paralympic Committee was formed in 2002. This is a nonprofit non-governmental entity aimed at promoting the principles of the Paralympic movement, promoting the development of Paralympic sports of the highest achievements, and assisting in the preparation of sportsmen with disabilities to participate in the Paralympic Games and other international sports events. In 2015, Kairat Boranbaev took the public office of the Committee's President which had a positive effect on the performance of athletes.

Over the years of service of Kairat Boranbayev with the National Paralympic Committee, Kazakhstan has become the Central Asian hub for the organizational development of Paralympic sports that served the basis for training and sharing exchange of specialists from near and far abroad. From 2017 to 2019, the NPC trained specialists from Paralympic committees from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Angola, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, UAE and Tunisia. International competitions in Paralympic sports started to be held in Kazakhstan: World Cup in para judo (2018, Atyrau), Asian and Oceania Championship in para judo (2019, Atyrau), World Championship in para powerlifting (2019, Nur-Sultan).

All this contributed to the achievement of record indicators at the Paralympic Games including the historic first gold medal at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the first gold medal at the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Games, six medals including gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games as well as a bronze medal at the Beijing 2022 Winter Games.

Also, due to the efforts and financial support of Kairat Boranbayev, a Paralympic training center was built. It is designed for the professional training of national teams and the sports reserve in summer and winter Paralympic sports. Besides, the training center is open to all people with special physical needs who want to work out and play sports.

KZT 1.5 billion was invested in the establishment of this Center. More than 4,500 people with special physical needs visit the center every month. Training is held in 17 sports. All services of the center for people with special physical needs are provided free of charge.
